Peju Johnson, an actress, has stated that she is unconcerned by the backlash she received after sharing a video in which she appeared semi-naked. “I don’t consider my body to be my selling point,” she told Saturday Beats. That’s how I’m wired. I don’t dress sexually because I don’t consider my physique to be a selling factor. I’m not going to pretend. Whatever one undertakes, there will always be those who enjoy it and those who do not. I make no attempt to impress others. I try to be myself at all times. I used to be bothered by such criticism, but I’m no longer bothered. Some individuals would still say negative things about me even if I covered up (my body).”
Many users on social media disagreed with the actress when she said that dressed sexily does not make one immoral. “We have a culture in Africa,” she explained. It is rather common for businesses to expand into other countries. Being attractive does not imply that one is a slut. Before I started performing, I used to dress like this. People called me a variety of titles even when I was a virgin because of my appearance. I was outside of Nigeria at the time. People make a lot of judgments. I’ve been to a lot of places and seen a lot of stuff. People are quick to judge others who dress provocatively. Meanwhile, some people who cover up (their bodies) regularly change boyfriends and sleep around. Some of them even participate in races (prostitution).
Johnson also stated that she does not believe that an actress can sleep her way to the top of the industry. “I don’t believe an actress can sleep her way to the top of her job,” she continued. Many of them have been doing so, although few people are aware of their existence. You will not be out there if God does not want you to be. People that sleep their way to the top do not have my backing.”
