Princess Lilibet, the daughter of Meghan Markle, has said that she has “found her voice.” The Duchess of Sussex emphasized the value of encouraging young females to speak up as well.
On Sunday, August 18, Meghan made a heartfelt statement at the Afro Women and Power event in Colombia. She expressed her gratitude to everyone for the wonderful reception she and Prince Harry got over their four days in the South American nation. “My husband and I can feel this embrace from Colombia because we are in your country—it’s incredible,” she remarked.
The occasion celebrated the accomplishments of female Afro-Colombian entrepreneurs and leaders in the Cali area. Meghan emphasized that one of the main goals of the Archewell Foundation, which she and Prince Harry co-founded in 2020, is to make sure that women and girls are valued and heard in all facets of life.
“I find inspiration in the strong women around me, my mother being one of them,” Meghan stated. “So much of how I approach things is less about the fight, and more about how do we show up in a space and wash things over with love and kindness and generosity.”
Meghan also discussed the importance of speaking up when necessary. “Those are the things that motivate me because I understand what it’s like to be ignored when you have something important to say or need to be heard. We are really pleased of our three-year-old daughter, who has definitely discovered her voice, so I urge her to do the same,” the mother continued.
Afro-Colombian artists Nidia Góngora and Cynthia Montaño entertained Meghan and Harry at the occasion, and Meghan even joined Vice President Márquez for some dancing.
Meghan and Harry were given a bottle of “viche,” a traditional Colombian whiskey, as a farewell gift when their tour came to an end.
